In an interview over ANC, Sotto said the city will be able to roll out "a couple of thousand" COVID-19 vaccines for medical frontliners next month.

"We have allocated P300 million and we have actually earmarked more funds depending on the supply that is available, then we'll be able to allocate much more than that. We're talking to the Department of Health, the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force), and we're also talking to the manufacturers," he added.

Sotto assured that the city is "very ready" for the city-wide inoculation program, however, he noted that it's still premature "to mention a particular brand."

"The first roll out will be for the medical frontliners. The second roll out will be for the senior citizens and persons with disabilities. For the medical frontliners, we can expect that as soon as February," he said.

"This is only for medical frontliners, maybe a couple of thousand . We'll announce the final, but that's what we're working on right now," Sotto highlighted.

Earlier, Sotto said around P300 million from the city's 2021 budget has been allocated for the procurement and purchase of COVID-19 vaccine.

"We do have the funds. But right now, when I say P300 million that's the amount that's actually in our appropriation ordinance already, but we can easily realign more funds as we see that there are supplies available," he added.
