Looking for new online reads? You might want to check KomikSpot

Here’s your newest virtual destination for local comics and novels

Instead listing down resolutions that you would probably end up breaking this year, why not make 2021 the year when you make reading a habit? And if you’re looking for free online sources, you might want to check out this new website.

Established in July 2020, KomikSpot started out as an online store for digital comics. Eventually, it became a virtual destination for avid comic book readers and for writers and artists who would want to share their works.

“KomikSpot’s foundation has always been about giving more opportunities, and we’re going to put more emphasis on that now,” the team says. “Many people have been clamoring for us to have the ability to upload and publish comics online, so we listened but instead of being a 'me too' platform, we took a step further.”

Readers will find a variety of Filipino-made titles in various genres, from action to romance to fantasy and superhero stories. Already up on the website are Gener Pedrina’s Sanduguan, EST’s Niño, and The Snow Adventure by Guhweto. The platform also offers long reads such as novels Don't Wanna Fall Again (comedy) and Intimate Tales (slice of life).

“We have realigned many of our goals for the community. We do not just want a single platform to showcase Filipino talents, but an integrated one that can help usher a new breed of creators and fans through collaboration and knowledge sharing,” the team says. “Our online community and web series uploading are just the first steps. This 2021 we will push out more components that will be essential for creators as well as aspiring artists and writers.”
