Daryl Ong hopes to be a judge in a singing contest someday

Daryl Ong

"Masked Singer Pilipinas" winner and now VIVA artist Daryl Ong talked about his singing style and his dream of being a singing-contest judge.

In an online press conference Jan. 6, Daryl was kind enough to share his approach when it comes to recording his primetime original soundtracks.

Daryl said that he has a lot of respect for the original composers and singers of the song that he will cover:

"At first kinakanta ko siya just like the original, para 'bang pinapakilala ko sa younger generations 'yung song then dun sa next half 'nung song kumbaga tinotodo ko na yung 'Daryl' na version," he said.

If you listened to his hit single "Stay" and other soundtracks such as "Basta't Kasama Kita" and "How Did You Know?" that he performed through the years, that unique style is very noticeable at the second half of his songs.

Asked about his willingness to be a judge for a singing competition, he said: "Yes, definitely. I would love to be a judge in a singing contest because as an artist para 'bang, it gives you more 'credibility' as a singer."

Ong, 33, was widely known for his song covers for primetime hit series such as "On the Wings of Love," "Ang Probinsyano" and "Ikaw lang ang Iibigin." and more recently, with his win at TV5's "Masked Singer Pilipinas" last December.
