Three seniors die in Davao City fire


DAVAO CITY -- At least three senior citizens died in a fire in Phase 1, Central Park here on Monday afternoon.

Davao City Fire District Intelligence and Investigation Chief, Senior Fire Officer 4 Ramil Gillado, identified the victims as Claudio Libre, 81; Gloria Aurora Libre, 79; and Angelo Ouqialda, 60.

Gillado said the fire broke out at about 3:43 p.m. on January 4 at the house owned by Claudio Libre on Cordillera Street.

He said that based on the report of the Talomo Fire Station, the cause of the fire was an electrical short-circuit from a minivan which was under repair.

The fire also gutted two other structures and partially damaged a nearby establishment.

Arson investigators placed the initial damage to property at P400, 000. Three families were rendered homeless.

Fire out was declared at around 5:54 p.m.
