Caraga region records more COVID-19 recoveries


BUTUAN CITY – Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region has already recorded 4,113 recoveries from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The number represents 4,754 confirmed cases since March, 2020, based on the latest case bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH attributed the region's high recovery rate to the high percentage of asymptomatic or mild patients. The rest are severe and critical cases.

Asymptomatic or mild cases are managed in local community isolation units and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities but transferred to a higher health care facility if further management is needed.

To date, Caraga region has 428 active cases, while 213 patients have died due to complications, mostly senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.

The region registered on Sunday 49 new COVID-19 cases. According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said eight have mild symptoms and 41 are asymptomatic.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the DOH-Center for Health Development (CHD), 40 new cases were recorded in Agusan del Sur, four in Surigao City, two each in Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte, and one in Bayugan City (Agusan del Sur).

Caraga region now has a total of 4,754 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 428 of which are active, and 213 deaths.

Among those infected, 31 are male, 18 are female, with the youngest at 15 years, and the oldest at 71.
