Tokyo accepting PH applicants for teacher training, Japanese studies


The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan is now accepting applications for the teacher training and Japanese studies categories of the 2021 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.

Applicants for teacher training must be under 35-years-old and a graduate of a college or teacher training college. They must also have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary, or teacher training college in the Philippines. 

But college or university teachers currently in service are not eligible for the scholarship. 

On the other hand, applicants for the Japanese studies must be from 18-to 30-years-old, must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools which major in Japanese language or Japanese culture in a university outside Japan, and must also be enrolled in their home institutions. 

The deadline for submission of applications is on Feb. 5.

The application process has a document screening, written exams, and an interview.
