SM Entertainment artists’ online concert sets record with over 35 million viewers

The online concert of artists under SM Entertainment has set a new record by attracting more than 35 million viewers. 

Billed as “SMTOWN Live: Culture Humanity,” the free concert was held on Jan. 1 and was streamed on YouTube, Naver V Live, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok. 

According to SM Entertainment, the concert recorded 35.83 million streams in 186 countries and regions to set a new record for the highest number of viewers for a Korean online concert.

SM Entertainment artists who performed at the three-hour concert were NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, TVXQ, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, SHINee’s Taemin, Red Velvet, WayV, SuperM, Aespa, Kangta, Raiden, Ginjo and Imlay. 

"Today's free concert is to bless and celebrate #SMTOWN fans' humanity. Be kind, be humble, and be the love for the better days in the future,” said Lee Soo-man, founder of SM Entertainment.

Taeyeon said, “How was your 2020? A lot happened in 2020. It was tough and somewhat inconvenient due to COVID-19. We could feel how precious social activities are. We could spend more time with family.”
