5 LGUS receive P25-million each from BARMM to build municipal gov’t centers

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Five  municipalities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region In Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) received P25-million each for the construction of two-storey municipal government centers.

Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo, together with the mayors of Sultan Dumalondong, Butig, Poona Bayabao, and Lumbaca Unayan of Lanao del Sur along with Pandag of Maguindanao province, signed the memoranda of agreement (MOA) on Thursday, December 23, for the implementation of the projects in their respective municipalities.

“This project is part of MILG’s comprehensive intervention and support to the local governments through its Local Government Facilities Development Program (LGFDP) and the Support to Local Government Unit Infrastructure Development Project (SLGUIDP),” he said.

“W, at BARMM, are committed to completing the construction of government centers to ensure that our constituents are able to approach their local elected officials in designated buildings and where services may be accessed by the people,” Sinarimbo added.

BARMM Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua was also present to witness the ceremonial signing.

“Ang sentro ng gobyerno ng pamilya ay ang kanilang bahay. In the case of the local government, the municipal or the barangay hall is the center of the government,” said Macacua.

“Sana, kung aalagaan man natin ang bahay natin (family), ganun din ang pag-aalaga natin sa mga iko-construct nating municipal government centers, kasi after all, atin ito,” he added.

Macacua emphasized that part of the approved 2021 budget was intended to aid local government units for them to institute governance reforms.

This project will be in line with the 12-point priority agenda of Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim’s vision, goals, and strategies for governance reforms anchored on moral governance.
