QC, Bulacan, Davao City top number of new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) reported that 1,885 more people tested positive for the dreaded novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which brings the country’s total to 467,601 on Friday. 

Of the overall nationwide count, 27,748 are active cases or those who are undergoing treatment or quarantined. Of these, 81.7 percent have mild symptoms, 10.4 percent are asymptomatic, 4.9 percent are in critical condition, 2.6 percent have severe symptoms, while 0.32 percent are moderate.

The top five areas that logged the most number of new cases were Quezon City with 130, Bulacan province with 122, Davao City with 99, Rizal province with 78, and Leyte with 63. 

The DOH likewise reported that 307 patients have recovered from the virus which brings the total number of recoveries to 430,791. However, seven more people died, bringing the death count to 9,055.

Meanwhile, the health department said 15 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on December 24.
