Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla told reporters in an interview that the FMR covers and connects the barangays of Sapsap to Manaybanay; Socsocon to Lima; and Cancaraja to Arabunog, all in the town of Pastrana.

Petilla said the FMR benefits the residents of these barangays since farmers can transport their products easily to any point of Pastrana and is expected to enhance the agricultural productivity of the municipality.

He added that the FMR project is also advantageous to the people commuting in the area as this will provide them smooth and convenient travels.

It was learned that the project was constructed under the convergence program of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Leyte Second District Engineering Office based in Carigara, Leyte and the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 8, based in Tacloban City with the project cost at P15 million.

The objective of the FMR is to promote inclusive growth and poverty reduction in the country’s hard to reach areas through better road connectivity.
