21 new COVID-19 cases registered in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region continues to rise with 21 new cases recorded.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), seven new cases were recorded in Surigao del Sur, six in Agusan del Sur, four in Butuan City, and two each in Surigao del Norte and Surigao City.

Caraga region now has a total of 4,131 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 429 of which are active, and 189 deaths.

The DOH-CHD also reported that Caraga region has recorded 3,513 recoveries.

According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said 10 have mild symptoms and 11 are asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 11 were all local transmission cases, nine with no history of travel to an area with a known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19, and one with travel history from an area with local transmission.

Among those infected, 15 were male, six were male, with the youngest at 10-years-old and the oldest at 76.
