Under the Truck Ban Ordinance of the MMDA, anyone who violates the ordinance will be given a citation ticket worth P2,000.

For those truck drivers apprehended thrice, the MMDA will recommend to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) the suspension of their license for a year.

Nebrija said the truck ban made the travel time 20 percent faster on EDSA.

" particularly from North Avenue to Magallanes, both directions, where total truck ban is implemented," he said.

The 17 Metro Manila mayors, comprising the Metro Manila Council (MMC), pushed for the reimposition of the truck ban because of the increased number of vehicles during the holidays. The MMC is the policy-making body of the MMDA.

MMDA suspended the imposition of the truck ban due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

large trucks are not allowed on major roads in Metro Manila from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays, the ordinance stated.

MMDA said the truck ban is suspended on Sundays and holidays on major thoroughfares in the metropolis except for EDSA.

The number coding scheme remains suspended, MMDA said.
