Western Visayas cops share holiday spirit with the less fortunate

ILOILO CITY – With the socio-economic challenges posed by coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) launched a project intended for less fortunate families in Western Visayas region this holiday season.

“Let us celebrate this season with love and generosity in our hearts,” said PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda after the launch of the Christmas Tree of Hope at Camp Delgado, the police regional headquarters in Iloilo City.

The Christmas Tree of Hope is where each police officer and even non-uniformed personnel can hang a star decoration that contains their wishes and prayers.  Each of the stars would be worth P10 with the proceeds going to impoverished communities.

PRO-6 has entered into a partnership with the student council of St. Therese- MTC Colleges in Iloilo City.  The proceeds were turned over to identified families in the town of Tigbauan on Sunday, December 13.

Aside from the Christmas Tree of Hope, police units in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces, as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod, have also undertaken their own outreach programs to help beneficiary-communities.
