Police sergeant arrested while selling high-powered firearms


A police sergeant was arrested after he was caught engaging in gun-running activities during an entrapment in Parañaque City on Saturday night.

Police Staff Sgt. Reynaldo Ursulum was arrested along with his companion identified as 21-year old Carvyn Parcon during the entrapment at around 10 p.m. in a restaurant on Doña Soledad Avenue in Parañaque City.
 
Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said Ursulum is assigned with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas.
 
He said an entrapment operation was to buy four assault rifles for P500,000 from the suspect. They were arrested while in the act of the exchange.
 
Seized were four  Bushmaster M4A1 carbines, a PNP-issued Taurus 9mm pistol, magazine assemblies with live ammunition, ID and ATM  cards, and an SUV with license plates JUN 660.
 
Sinas said Ursulum is getting  the guns from Alabang in Muntinlupa City. Follow-up operations are now being conducted on the source of the guns.
