DPWH-SLDEO District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia told reporters in an interview that the road is now providing easy access for locals and nature-loving tourists.

Junia reported that the project has converted nearly a kilometer stretch of dusty and bumpy road into a two-lane concrete tourism road.

She said Anas Hill is a view deck that provides tourists and visitors with scenic views of the historic island of Limasawa, Sogod Bay to the East, and Bohol Sea to the west.

“Through our coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT), we managed to identify sites that have the potential to draw more tourists in the province which would hopefully spur development for communities near these sites,” Junia said.

Junia informed reporters that the construction of tourism access roads was part of the 0+10-point economic agenda of President Duterte aimed at promoting rural and value chain development toward increasing agricultural and rural enterprise productivity and rural tourism.

Southern Leyte province is known for its world-class dive sites, caves, extreme adventure sites, waterfalls, safari, river trekking, crater lake trekking, fish feeding, island escapades, beach fun, and religious journeys.
