'True Grit'

Michael Cacnio integrates works by some of the biggest names in Philippine art in his sculptures, pushing through the obstacles, appreciating the fruits of their labor. The artworks featured in “True Grit” are representative of Cacnio’s commitment to art and the modern masters he personally respects, solidifying each of these artists’ position in the present era. Conjointly, the collaborative works address conversation, an exploration of Cacnio’s depictions of the tableaux scenes in an emotional and intellectual level.

This collaborative effort is due to a unique understanding of the temperament of important Filipino art. The junction of personalities, proficiencies, styles, and experiences contribute to a diverse body of work that addresses vital and current social narratives.

“True Grit” is on view at Booth C1 of ManilArt 2020, located at the 3rd Level of SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig until Dec. 13.

'Divine Presence'

An old English proverb states that “God is in the details.” It means that if we look hard enough, we will be rewarded with insight. And surely, this is true for the works of Herbert Pajarito, whose meticulously hand-drawn pen and ink works, as well as his acrylics on canvas, can attest. “Divine Presence” expresses a timely message of the Almighty’s hidden hand in creation and at all times. An opus of profuse details and layered images, the works appear like Indonesian batik from afar, but reveal their intricate details up close.
