DSWD reports P779-M standby funds, stockpiles


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disclosed Wednesday that it has standby funds amounting to P182.40 million and available stockpiles worth about P596.55 million for relief operations.

The DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said of the P182.40-million standby funds, P140.08 million has been earmarked as available Quick Response Fund (QRF) of the DSWD Central Office, while the Field Offices has P42.32-million allocation.

The DSWD said around 218, 211 family food packs (FFPs) worth P102.27 million are available for distribution to the local government units (LGUs) that are in need of relief augmentation support.

Each FFP contains six kilos of rice, four cans of sardines, four cans of corned beef or beef loaf, and six sachets of coffee or cereal energy drink which is enough for two days for a family with five members.

The DSWD has so far distributed around 2, 346, 158 FFPs nationwide.

Apart from the FFPs, also part of the DSWD’s stockpiles are P307.19-million worth of non-food items (FNIs) and P187.09-million worth of other food items.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao assured the public that the delivery of relief assistance to affected localities continues.

She noted that the DSWD has provided P137.6 million in relief aid to the families affected by typhoon “Ulysses," particularly in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, National Capital Region (NCR), Calabarzon or Region 4-A, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The DSWD official said the agency also extended assistance to the families affected by typhoon “Quinta” and super typhoon “Rolly” worth P5.4 million, and P86.1 million, respectively.

She said they have started providing Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) to the typhoon victims in Bicol.
