Diocese of Boac warns of FB Page's fraudulent activity

The Diocese of Boac has warned the public against a Facebook page using the name of one of their priests Ramon Magdurulang to solicit money from people.

Father Wilfredo Magcamit Jr, chancellor of the diocese, said the social media page is asking for financial assistance for the supposed ordination of a certain Rev. James Calma of the Rogationist of the Child Jesus (RCJ) on December 10, 2020.

"The said facebook account is asking to send the donation thru GCash and Palawan Express using the mobile number 09155259175," he said in a circular letter dated December 9.

"We wish to inform the public that this account is in neither way connected nor owned by Rev. Msgr. Ramon Magdurulang, a priest of the Diocese of Boac," added Magcamit.

According to the diocese, upon verification they found out that the mobile number is registered to a certain John Blake N who is "almost identical to a certain John Balle Navarro who, in 2017, also used the name of Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit, Jr., Bishop of Boac, to ask for financial assistance from VSM Realty Corporation in General Santos City."

Magcamit asked the public not to entertain any friend request or message that they might receive from the said facebook account.

"This is also to remind everyone to be extra careful in using and interacting on social media and to verify with persons in authority any doubtful information, fund raising activities or inquiries," he said.
