Tagum City residents, who refuse to undergo COVID-19 testing, face sanctions

DAVAO CITY – The local government of Tagum City in Davao del Norte will impose sanctions on selected residents, who will refuse to take part in the city aggressive community testing (ACT) for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

(City Government of Tagum / MANILA BULLETIN)

In a statement, the COVID-19 City Task Force said it needed the cooperation of 1,500 residents, who were identified as direct contacts of COVID-19 positive patients, or who belong to vulnerable sectors because of their constant exposure to the virus.

The task force said the selected residents have nothing to worry about on the conduct of swab testing since it was free of charge, and was aimed at protecting the community.

The testing is being spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH), and it started on December 2 to last up to December 6.

The Task Force said if the target individuals will not heed the call to participate in the ACT, their QR Codes will be blocked, which would not allow them to enter establishments, among other privileges.

Aside from deactivation of QR Code, they will be also charged for violation of Republic Act 11332 or the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act".
