GENERAL SANTOS CITY- Authorities seized some P2 million worth of cocaine from an empty container van at a private container yard outside the Makar port, this city on Monday.
Naravy Duquitan, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, said the illegal drugs weighing some 360 grams with an estimated value of P2 million was concealed inside an empty 20-footer container van at the compound of Kudos Trucking compound near the Makar port in Barangay Labangal, this city.
She said the container van was undergoing repair when the technician found the illegal drugs inside a wrapped package concealed in the aircon compartment.
She said the management of the container yard had immediately sought the assistance of authorities. The PDEA K-9 unit personnel conducted the panelling on the container van and confirmed that the package contained illegal drugs.
Probers are looking into the smuggling of the illegal drugs, the first case which was reported in the city.
They believe that the illegal drugs were not intended for unloading in the city which served as the transhipment point of the container van which came from Singapore.
