Flood waters inundate homes, render roads impassable in Eastern Samar


TACLOBAN CITY - The northern municipalities of Eastern Samar province were inundated in flood waters, rendering some roads impassable on Tuesday.

The local government of Dolores, Eastern Samar, has suspended work in private and public offices due to the flooding brought about by the interaction between the Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the Tail-End of the Frontal System (Shear Line) which moved eastward and affected potions of Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Although it has weakened, the LPA moved towards the Southern Luzon-Visayas area bringing moderate to heavy rains.

Arteche town Mayor Roland Evardone said Jipapad via Bigo Road was not passable as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday due to flooding.

"The water in the river has risen, floodwater in Brgy. Bigo is knee-deep, while there's only a little left in Brgy. Concepcion for the water to reach the road, which we anticipate to continuously rise due to bad weather," he said.

The mayor also ordered the cancellation of sea travel for small boats due to huge waves.

The municipalities of Can-avid and Jipapad also reported flooding in low-lying areas.
