All 26 members of the Eastern Police District - Drug Enforcement Unit (EPD-DEU) have tested negative for drug use.
This was disclosed by newly installed EPD director General Matthew Baccay Wednesday (December 2).
The EPD-DEU personnel, he said, were tested last week.
"We will be vetting DEU members in order to ensure that they are not using illegal drugs," he said.
"Our DEUs will undergo drug test every month."
The anti-drug cops of Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, and San Juan will also undergo monthly drug testing, Baccay said.
Under his leadership, Baccay said he will increase police visibility on the streets as a crime deterrent.
"When we were in Davao, this is what Regional Director Danao and I were imposing there," he said.
"In concept, that is our practice---reduce crime volume up to 50 percent."
