Duterte has stern warning for dismissed cops who are planning to revive notorious gang

An early death awaits the policemen allegedly planning to revive the Kuratong Baleleng crime gang in the country, President Duterte warned in a recent televised address.

The President told the cops to "better shape up" as he cautioned them against getting involved in criminal activities.

"Ngayon, itong mga pulis --- kayong mga pulis, p**… May mga pulis diyan sa Zamboanga del Sur na nagtatayo ng parang reviving the --- itong gang ni --- humahawak sa Ozamiz? Kuratong Baleleng. Mayroon diyan, I read sa briefer mo galing ata sa iyo iyan (Now the policemen, you son of a b***, there are policemen in Zamboanga del Sur who are apparently reviving the gang, the one that controlled Ozamiz? Kuratong Baleleng. I read it in the briefer that came from you)," Duterte said during a meeting with some cabinet members, including Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año.

"Better shape up … Gusto mamatay nang maaga (You want to die early)," he said.

Duterte said those planning to bring back the crime group are no match for the government.

"Hindi niyo kaya ang gobyerno. Patayin mo man si Año, patayin mo ako, patayin mo si ano, (Defense Secretary Delfin) Lorenzana, buhay pa rin ang Republika ng Pilipinas (You don't stand a chance against the government. Even if you kill Año, you kill me, kill Lorenzana, the Republic of the Philippines will survive)," he said.

Duterte talked about Kuratong Baleleng, the anti-communist vigilante group that turned into a criminal gang, after reading another list of government officials dismissed over corruption complaints.  The list included a former department secretary, some mayors, cops, barangay officials, and government personnel from various agencies.

"Dalawa iyang infamous ano dito mayor. Alam mo kung sino iyong isa? Iyong si Parojinog (There are two infamous mayors in the list. You know who's the other one? Parojinog)," Duterte said.

Back in 2017, the President raised alleged links of the Parojinogs to the creation of the Kuratong Baleleng in Ozamiz. He said the group was initially under the control of the military then to help the government fight the communist rebels. The group however later evolved into a criminal organization

"Itong mga Parojinog family, naging gangster at kinontrol nila lahat pati shabu. At marami silang pinatay na pulis diyan sa Ozamiz na hindi sumusunod sa kanila The Parojinog family became a gangster and control everything including the shabu trade. They killed many cops in Ozamiz that didn't follow them)," he said in a media interview three years ago.
