Cavite lifts liquor ban, allows minors in malls

CAVITE - Despite the province still being under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) for the month of December, the local government unit has eased some guidelines meant to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

On Wednesday (December 2), Governor Jonvic Remulla announced that minors are now allowed to go to malls within the province as long as they are accompanied by their guardians. Just like their adult companions, the minors are required to wear face masks and face shields when going out of the house.

Mall operations are extended until 9 p.m. this month, with an 8:30 p.m. cut-off for customers coming in.

Aside from eased mall guidelines, Remulla also announced the lifting of the liquor ban in the province. Consumers can now buy alcoholic drinks without a volume limit and a time window. However, public consumption of alcohol and public intoxication are still prohibited.

According to Remulla, Cavite COVID-19 cases have significantly gone down from 800 per day in July and August to less than 20 per day in November. Amid the good news, Remulla reminded his constituents to continue following protocols to avoid a second wave in the province.
