‘Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos’ bags top award at 2020 Hawaii Int’l Film Festival

The 2020 Cinemalaya Special Jury Prize winner “Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos” bagged another international award for Best Documentary (Shorts) at this year’s Hawaii International Film Festival.

The Cinemalaya congratulated the film’s production team in a Facebook post on Monday.

“Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos wins again! #Cinemalaya2020 Special Jury Prize winner bagged the Best Documentary Short Film award at the 2020 Hawaii International Film Festival! Huge congratulations to Direk Joanna and the team!” the post read.

Last October, the film also won as Best Short Documentary at the 29th Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

“Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos (To Calm the Pig Inside),” directed and written by Joana Vasquez Arong, is a contemplation on the effects a typhoon leaves on a seaside city.

The 40th Hawaii International Film Festival presented over 200 films from 45 countries. The festival was held in Honolulu, Hawaii from Nov. 5 to 15.
