Davao region COVID-19 tally breaches 9,000-mark


DAVAO CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Davao region has surpassed the 9,000-mark over the weekend.

The DOH Davao Center for Health Development reported a total of 314 new cases, 138 recoveries, and seven deaths.

Davao region now has 9,195 cases of COVID-19 reported, with 6,085 recoveries, and 351 deaths. The DOH said the region has 2,759 active cases.

Among the active cases, 1,916 were asymptomatic, 736 mild cases, 101 severe cases, and six were critical.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin for November 29, Davao City continued to have the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 6,432, with 3,922 recoveries and 288 deaths. The city has 2,222 total active cases.

Records showed that the youngest case recorded last Sunday was that of a five-month old boy from Barangay Marber in Bansalan, Davao del Sur. The child had a history of local travel, and was asymptomatic. The oldest was an 84-year-old man from Barangay Poblacion Dos in Bansalan, who has died. The patient’s history of exposure was still being investigated.

Davao City was followed by Davao del Norte province with 1,050 cases recorded, 792 recoveries, and 23 deaths. The province has 235 active cases to date.

Davao Occidental province has the least number of recorded cases with 118 cases, 108 recoveries, and three deaths. The province has seven remaining active cases.
