The film is set in 1980s after a martial law ends in Taiwan and the country transitions to become the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. It follows two high school boys A-han (Edward Chen) and Birdy (Tseng Jing Hua) in an all-male boarding school exploring their friendship and genuine love for each other.

"I hope viewers can relate to LGBTQ community's feeling of genuine affection and heartaches that are just as susceptible as everyone else. I look forward to sparking more discussions across Asia," filmmaker Patrick Liu said.

"It is my hope to erase discriminations and heal the world with more love and acceptance. As the film will stream globally soon, I am curious about viewers' response to this film," he added.

"Your Name Engraved Herein" won Best Original Song and Best Cinematography at the Golden Horse Awards 2020, the most prestigious annual awards for Chinese-language films.

The romantic drama will premiere on Dec. 23 on Netflix.
