Baguio City continues to have highest testing rate in Cordillera


BAGUIO CITY – This city has continued to have the highest testing rate in the region with 16.97 percent, corresponding to 62,835 of its 370,218 population tested as of November 18.

Based on data from the Department of Health (DOH) -Cordillera on testing and positivity rates in the region, Benguet province had a testing rate of 8.91 percent, with 42,623 individuals tested out of its 478,334 population.

Apayao was third with 6.33 percent  (7,845 individuals tested out of 123,898 population), followed by Mt. Province,  3.64 percent (5,717 of 156,988); Kalinga, 3.28 percent (7,231 of 220,229); Abra, 2.85 percent (7,047 out of 247,402); and Ifugao, 2.81 percent (5,914 of 210,669).

And because of aggressive testing, Baguio City also had the highest positivity rate at 4.49 percent, with a total of 2,821 confirmed cases.

The figure is slightly higher than Benguet’s 4.20 percent with 1,792 positive cases.  Kalinga’s positivity rate was 3.42 percent (247 cases) while Ifugao had 1.69 percent (100 cases), Abra 1.52 percent (107 cases), Apayao, 0.79 percent (62) and Mt. Province, 0.65 percent (37 cases).

Overall, the region’s testing rate was at 7.70 percent, and positivity rate at 3.71 percent.
