Fans of K-pop superstars BTS in the Philippines now have raised P4,021,550.16 (about $83,367) as of Nov. 23 as part of their efforts to help families and communities affected by typhoon “Ulysses” (international name “Vamco”), which hit the country in the second week of November.
The typhoon left 73 dead, 68 injured and 19 missing in Regions II (Cagayan), III (Central Luzon), CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), V (Bicol), National Capital Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), according to the Nov. 22 report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
NDRRMC recorded 190 incidents of flooding and 51 landslides/soil collapse and it estimated that typhoon “Ulysses” caused P4.21 billion ($87.47 million) damage to agriculture and P8.69 billion ($180.4 million) damage to infrastructure. A total of 88,713 houses were also damaged.
Manila Bulletin reported on Nov. 16 that BTS ARMYs in the Philippines have raised P2 million as of Nov. 15. An updated list showed that they increased the total donation to P3 million as of Nov. 16.
The funds raised by BTS ARMYs reached P4 million on Nov. 20, the day when BTS made their comeback with the album “BE (Deluxe Edition).’
