Vangie de Jesus, one of the country’s volleyball icons, passed away Saturday due to cardiac arrest.
She was 68.
A former national team captain, de Jesus was a three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist and member of the PH team that competed in the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India.
A versatile setter, she played for the University of the East in her collegiate years, and later on became coach of her alma mater as well as the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.
