Number of COVID-19 cases, death toll in Davao region continue to rise


DAVAO CITY – The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Davao region surpassed the 8,000-mark after 130 new cases were reported on Friday, November 20.

The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) also disclosed that there were five more fatalities recorded in the region, that sent the total going beyond 300.

As it is, Davao region now has 8,070 cases, 2,380 of which are active cases. It has also posted 301 deaths.

A total of 1,238 active cases are asymptomatic, 1,007 are mild cases, 126 are severe cases and nine are critical. 

Meanwhile, the DOH said three fatalities were from Davao City, and one each from Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur.

The DOH said of the new cases recorded, 87 were from Davao City, 19 from Davao del Norte, 15 from Davao de Oro, eight from Davao del Sur, and one from Davao Oriental.

The DOH said 123 patients also recovered on Friday. The region currently has a total of 5,389 recoveries.
