Some Filipinos were thrilled to see Pinoy culture tackled on the American live-action/animated educational children's television series "Blue's Clues & You!"
it even introduced a new character in "Lola" as portrayed by Carolyn Fe.
In the episode titled "Blue's Big Baking Show," which aired today, Nov. 20, the show's lead, Filipino-American Broadway actor Joshua dela Cruz could be seen doing the "mano po" welcoming Lola.
They then spend the day making bibingka, a traditional Filipino delicacy the show described as “masarap.”
In an interview with Canadian-based Omni Television, Carolyn talked about her role on the show.
According to her, it felt surreal to represent the Philippines in a foreign country.
"I did the audition and that's when I realized 'Oh my god! We're doing the Filipino flip here,' and 'wow.' All I can say was just, it blew my mind that we are going to be represented in the biggest way. I mean this is huge," she said.
"Can you imagine the next generation of children in general? They're are going to get to know the Filipino culture."
She added, "It's an all-inclusive show with good lessons and basic love -- love of your friend, Josh to Blue, love of your family, Josh to Lola and Lola to Josh and Lola to Blue," she explained.
