VP Leni calls out those spreading misinformation

There is no stopping her.

Coming from President Duterte’s tirade against her, Vice President Leni Robredo is hell bent to call out persons whoever they are for spreading lies and misinformation.

“Kung gusto mong ganyan ang laban mo, ikaw na lang, huwag mo na ako idamay. Pero ‘pag nagsisinungaling ka, iko-call out kita, maging sino ka (If that’s the way you fight, do it yourself, don’t involve me. But if you lie about me, I’ll call you out whoever you’re),” she said a Teleradyo interview.

“Mayroon ako mga mapapalampas pero kapag babastusin ninyo ako, tapos ‘yung basehan ng pambabastos ninyo sa akin, kasinungalingan, iko-call out ko kayo (I can let some issues pass but if you disrespects me, and your insults are based on lies, I’ll call you out),” she added.

Robredo emerged more determined to fight purveyors of fake news after President Duterte on Tuesday night hurled insults against her for allegedly competing with him and grandstanding during calamities.

Duterte accused the vice president that she had given orders to the military and police to rescue flooded-hit residents in Cagayan during the Ulysses’ onslaught, which she denied.

The lady official said it was “malicious” for Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo to claim that she used a government-owned C-130 plane filled with relief goods to make it appear the donations came from her.

Panelo, along with Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, already apologized to Robredo, saying they got the wrong information about her trip.

While she takes a stronger stance versus fake news peddlers, Robredo said she won’t fight back by going down to their level.

“I have been calm ever since. You know that I just choose which accusation I’ll react to. But since last year I told myself as long as it is a lie about me, I’ll respond to it,” she said in Filipino.

“I won’t react to it on their level, but I’ll respond to it in my level. When I say to my level, I’ll call you out, but I won’t be disrespectful because Filipinos are not like that,” she stressed.
