Sharkboy and Lavagirl return in the film 'We Can be Heroes'


Superheroes Sharkboy and Lavagirl are finally returning and this time as adults.

Streaming giant Netflix announced Thursday that the pair — who are now parents — will be returning for another journey in the film “We Can Be Heroes,” a standalone sequel to the 2005 film “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D.”

Taylor Dooley will reprise her role as Lavagirl, while JJ Dashnaw will portray Sharkboy which was originally played by Taylor Lautner.

The film will also introduce the duo’s daughter, Guppy which will be played by Bird Box actress Vivien Lyra Blair.

“Wanna feel old? Sharkboy and Lavagirl are parents now,” Netflix posted on Twitter along with photos of the now grownup superhero duo.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, “We Can Be Heroes,” follows the story of the children of different superheroes and how they will save their parents who were kidnapped by alien invaders.

The film will premiere on Netflix on Jan. 1, 2021.
