Mati vice mayor to donate son’s eyes and kidney

DAVAO CITY – The family of the Mati City vice mayor Glenda Rabat–Gayta confirmed on Wednesday that the eyes and kidney of her late son, Theo Louis Gayta, will be donated to people who need them.

“In his death, there are people who will be given a chance to live longer. Theo was best suited to be an organ donor considering his age and health,” the Rabat-Gayta family said in a statement.

The 19-year-old Theo, a Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering student at Ateneo de Davao University, was airlifted to Davao City after he succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head on Monday.

“It is inspiring to know that there will be people seeing the world through Theo’s eyes and there will be people who are given another chance in life,” the vice mayor said.

Theo's remains will be brought back home to Mati City on Sunday, November 22, for his wake and burial.
