Active COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan down by 45 percent

Pangasinan has dropped from 450 in mid-September to only 246, or a decrease of 45 percent, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Pangasinan PDRRMO Chief Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro said this decline in the number of active cases could be attributed to the “good communication line from the barangay to the provincial level”.

“This is also because of the cooperation of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force. This is the reason why the strategies that we are conducting aided in the lowering of active cases in Pangasinan,” Oro said.

He also noted that the provincial government has been employing the FIT3, or Find, Isolate, Test, Trace, and Treat, strategy to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the province.

Oro likewise underscored the contribution of all local government units (LGUs) in the province, which have put up more than 1,200 units for isolation and quarantine of COVID-19 patients.

Provincial government hospitals have likewise designated isolation and quarantine facilities.

He also noted the additional facilities provided by the provincial government that included the Pangasinan Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory, a blood bank at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, Provincial Ligtas COVID-19 Centers and two Provincial Halfway Houses in Burgos and Sta. Barbara towns.

There have also been 809 contact tracers, who were hired by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), working with the LGUs to facilitate contact tracing.

“The Provincial Health Office (PHO) was able to have a contact assessment tool as to who will be tested from the low risk to the high risk,” said Oro.
