PRO-6 apprehends 266 most wanted persons in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY—Within a period of one week, the different units under Police Regional Office (PRO-6) were able to arrest 266 wanted persons in the Western Visayas region.

Of the 266 nabbed from November 9 to 15, 54 were most wanted, or those who belong to the Top 10 list either in the municipal, city or provincial level.

PRO-6 Spokesperson Lt. Col. Joem Malong said an additional 212 wanted persons were arrested in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

But PRO-6’s Project Birada Semana, which is the monthly campaign of going after fugitives and criminals, also resulted in the arrest of 376 other individuals. 

Of the 376, police arrested 297 people for illegal gambling activities, while 49 others were nabbed for illegal drug activities.

Police also apprehended 17 people for firearms violation.  They were also able to confiscate 275 firearms and 22 explosives.

PRO-6 data also disclosed that the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) had the biggest accomplishment in terms of arresting most wanted persons and those engaged in illegal drugs, while Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) nabbed the most for firearms violation.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan ordered the sending of relief goods to Camp Crame that will be distributed to survivors of both Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses in Luzon. A total of 200 sacks of rice, five sacks of sugar, and 50 boxes of noodles have been shipped out.
