Team Lakay's strawweight Lito Adiwang made it clear that he wants another clash in the Circle against Japanese fighter Hiroba Minowa.
Adiwang wishes to settle the unfinished business with Minowa after a split decision loss last Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Many fans pointed out that Adiwang should have won the contest and criticized the call for a split decision, stressing that Minowa was seen tapping out due to the Filipino fighter's kimura lock.
The 27-year-old Team Lakay stalwart saw the need for a just call next time and the best way to settle it is to have a rematch.
"Parang 'di rin matahimik yung viewers and fans natin," Adiwang told Filipino sportswriters in a virtual conference Monday. "I know in his (Minowa) side, naging 50 percent 'yung victory niya kasi marami tayong mga supporters na nakuha sa atin 'yung panalo kasi nag-tap siya."
"I think the best way to close this is one more round. Let's have a rematch."
While Adiwang didn't notice Minowa tapping out, he was confident with his submission attempts in the first and second rounds but the 21-year-old Japanese escaped with quick repositioning.
Were it not for a video review, Adiwang wouldn't be aware at all.
"Sa video ko na lang nakita. Noong nasa fight tayo ang bilis ng mga pangyayari. But I know deep inside that first position ay pasok na pasok 'yun."
Adiwang, known for his rise in ONE Warrior Series with his vicious striking before inking a deal with ONE Championship, showed a different side of him and went toe-to-toe with Minowa's grappling skills.
But the former Shooto champion relied heavily on the third round after securing a dominant top position over Adiwang before collecting points in the ground and pound.
Minowa snapped Adiwang's seven-match win streak to improve at 12-2 record while the Igorot warrior suffered his first loss in four years and slid to 11-3.
Despite the loss, Adiwang saw this opportunity as a learning experience to be a better fighter and vowed to finish Minowa as quickly as possible should ONE Championship grant them the rematch.
"It's better to correct our mistakes now and improve. Para 'di na to maulit next time."
