Filipino artist Maria Victoria Abano won third place in this year’s 3rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations graphic arts competition and exhibition organized by the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said Abano’s sculpture entitled, “Man, Woman – Human,” is among 117 works of 82 artists from 10 ASEAN member-countries selected for the exhibition at the Vincom Center for Contemporary Art from Nov. 6 to 25.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the artistic event aims to enhance understanding and solidarity among ASEAN states.
It also offers a chance for painters in the region to meet and share their achievements, and introduce their countries, people, and cultures to others, he added.
