Mrs. Universe Philippines 2019 Charo Laude has just released a well-loved Filipino Christmas song "Miss Kita Kung Christmas" that will surely set the holidays in a romantic mood.

But critics can't help but compare Charo's version to other stars who already sang the same song in the past: Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo and Carol Banawa. By the way the holiday tune was originally recorded by Susan Fuentes.

"Actually hindi ako pressured na ikumpara ang version ko kila Sharon or Sarah G kasi mga idol ko sila. Sabi ko nga noon kapag naging singer ako, gusto kong maging tulad nila Sharon or Sarah Geronimo. I am not pressured at all," Charo said during the launch of her Christmas album "Himala'y Laganap" held at Simon's Supremo Bar on Tomas Morato in Quezon City recently.

Charo thinks that the song "Miss Kita" is not only for lovers but it is also for people who miss their friends or family.

Asked about her Christmas wishes, Charo said: "Long life and good health."

Charo said that she is also set to release a full-length CD early next year. "Mga original and cover songs din ang laman ng next CD ko. Hindi ako makapaniwala singer na ako," she told members of the press who covered the event.

Aside from her singing career, Charo is now the national director for the Mrs Universe Philippines pageant.

"Pero next year na ang pageant. Gusto kong ma-feel din nila ang live pageant," she said.

During the Mrs. Universe finals held in China, Charo won the special award Mrs. Universe Popularity 2019 and made it in the top 18 semi-finalists out of 94 candidates.

Charo was last seen in the popular Kapamilya afternoon series "Kadenang Ginto." A former Binibining Pilipinas candidate, Calalo was a member of the defunct teen variety program "That's Entertainment" on GMA 7 in her younger days. Her batchmates in the daily show include actress-beauty queen Patricia Javier and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

Asked about the greatest lesson learned during COVID-19, Charo said: "With or without crisis, I always remind the people close to me to save. Look what's happening now! Walang mga business. So if you're earning, mag-save rin tayo."
