Farmer killed by falling bamboo


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A 60-year-old farmer was killed after a bunch of bamboos fell on his shanty at the height of typhoon "Ulysses" in  Sitio Talete, Busoc, Poblacion, Atok, Benguet, Thursday.

Police Col. Elmer Ragay, Benguet police chief, identified the victim as Felix Menis Boguite, 60, single.

Ragay said Oliver Boguite, 30, nephew of the victim, informed local police about the incident that happened at 4:30 a.m.

Investigation said the victim was busy cooking in the kitchen when a bunch of bamboos broke due to the typhoon's strong winds and fell on the house.

Boguite was hit in the head, killing him instantly.
