Manila lady judge dies after being shot in her chamber


A Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge died after she was shot inside her office on the fifth floor of Manila City Hall allegedly by her clerk of court who later committed suicide at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 11).

Manila RTC (Branch 45) Judge Ma. Theresa Abadilla was declared dead on arrival at the Manila Medical Center at around 3:15 p.m.      

Police identified the suspect as lawyer Amador Rebato, 42, a clerk of court at the sala of the victim. The Manila Police District-Special Mayor's Reaction (MPD-SMaRT) said Rebato shot himself dead after shooting Abadilla. He was found slumped on a chair inside Abadilla's office. 

According to a police report, Abadilla and Rebato were inside Abadilla's office on the fifth floor of the Manila City Hall at around 2:45 p.m. when employees heard a gunshot inside Abadilla’s office. 

The bloodied Abadilla was wheeled out of the Manila City Hall on a chair and brought to the hospital on a police mobile.

A source said Abadilla reportedly asked Rebato to resign prior to the incident. 

The Manila City Hall was placed on lockdown after the shooting incident.
