Bureau of Corrections spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said six Persons Deprived of Liberty were taken to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

"Hindi naman critical as reported earlier pero kailangan ng further medical attention na hindi kaya rito (They are not in critical condition as reported earlier but they require medical attention that cannot be given at the NBP Hospital," Chaclag said.

He said that they are still confirming the cause of death of the three PDLs.

Chaclag said that the riot started when a member of the Sigue-Sigue Commando gang who was just sitting was stabbed, sparking a free for all scuffle that prompted the BuCor-Special Weapons and Tactics to act.

However, they were met by gunfire, prompting them to seek assistance from law enforcement partners.

Part of their investigation, according to Chaclag, is to determine how the PDLs obtained firearms.

He assured the public that other PDLs, as well as other quadrants, were not affected by the riot.

No commotion was reported  in penal colonies across the country but the BuCor remains on red alert status.

This riot comes just a month after a brawl occurred inside the NBP between the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik and Sigue-Sigue Commando gangs in which nine prisoners were killed.

Two weeks ago, BuCor launched “Oplan: Bura Tatak” to promote peace and order among inmates by effacing their tattoo marks to help remove the feeling of gang loyalty among PDLs and eliminate disputes among them.
