The DoH said 182 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the national recovery count to 361,784. On the other hand, 108 patients succumbed to the illness, taking the death toll to 7,647.

Rizal had the highest number of new confirmed cases with 103, followed by Davao City with 81, Maguindanao also with 81, Quezon City with 77, and Cavite with 76.

There are 29,018 active cases which is 7.3 percent of the total number of confirmed cases.

Of the total active cases, 82.7 percent are mild, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, five percent are in critical condition, and 2.8 percent are severe cases. According to Health Undersecretary Maria Roosario Vergeire, they are currently monitoring specific areas where the number of new cases are increasing.

These are Sarangani, Eastern Samar, Ormoc City, and Dinagat Island.

“There are specific areas that we are currently monitoring because of the increase in the number of new cases while there are a lot of areas where we have observed a downward trend of cases but there are also areas where cases are increasing and specific for that would be Sarangani, Eastearn Samar, Ormoc, and Dinagat Island which recorded an increase by as much as 200 percent based on indicators,” Vergeire said during an online media forum.

The Health official explained that there are detected clusters among healthcare workers in Ormoc while the increase in new confirmed cases in Eastern Samar is attributed to its increased testing capacity.

“And for Sarangani, they said there is a monitoring being done to determine the reason behind the cluster of cases while Dinagat Island is assuming that an increase in cases is observed after opening their ports from Surigao,” Vergeire said.

“But of course, the reasons for these observed new cases should still be validated. Aside from the local government units validating it, the DoH has also a set of criteria to validate it,” she added.

As of Nov. 8, Sarangani has 323 cases with 210 recoveries and eight deaths.

Eastern Samar has 188 confirmed cases with 16 new cases as of Nov.  8, 117 recoveries, and one death. Ormoc City has 163 cases with five new confirmed cases, 140 recoveries, and one death.

Dinagat Islands has 38 confirmed cases with three new cases as of Nov. 8 with 26 recoveries, and no deaths.
