Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group, said Salip Alidjam died after he traded shots with joint police and military operatives when they served him search warrants on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Estomo said Alidjam rushed to his room to get his firearm after seeing the arrival of police and military operatives. He then allegedly opened fire, which triggered a brief gun battle.

The search warrants were in connection with reports that he has been keeping guns and improvised explosive devices.

AJG spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod said Alidjam was identified by a kidnap-for-ransom victim as the one responsible for his abduction in 2016.
The victim was only released after paying P4 million.

“He was also involved in the kidnapping of an Indonesian a few years ago,” said Lumactod.

Seized from the slain suspect were a grenade, a .45 pistol, a Garand rifle, and various bullets.
The cadaver was properly turned over to the immediate family for disposition following Muslim traditions.
