Robredo slams fake news on river project

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday debunked a fake news report that she “urges local governments to invest in flood control infrastructure.”

The post containing the supposed headline was accompanied by a photo of the damaged Naga revetment project initiated by Robredo during her term as a congresswoman of Camarines Sur.

The supposed news report dated November 2 also had a caption that read: “Naga River Project ni VP Leni Robredo, bumigay agad, wala pang 2 buwan pagkatapos ng inauguration nito!”

(The Naga River Project of VP Leni Robredo collapsed less than two months after its inauguration.)

This post circulated online, but it turned out the photo was taken in 2016 and the damage of the P50-million project was already repaired.

The vice president slammed the story as fake on her official Facebook page.

“Pinapakita nito ang pagguho ng bahagi ng Naga Revetment Project, na agad namang naipaayos at maayos pa rin hanggang ngayon, matapos dumaan ang Super Typhoon #RollyPH,” she said.

Robredo added she was saddened some
individuals still spread fake news during calamities.
