GSCPO Director Col. Gilberto Tuzon has directed the investigation and detection management section of the city police command to investigate the incident allegedly involving Police Station 6 Commander Captain Nemencio Calipjo, who allegedly mauled brothers Rochard and Rommel Malones after they were arrested for violating the curfew last October 29 in Barangay Bula, this city.

A video of a badly beaten-up Rochard went viral on the social media, which prompted Tuzon to order an investigation to determine if the police official had indeed maltreated the victims.

Relatives of the victims alleged that Calipjo first arrested Rochard for curfew violation, and allegedly mauled him while he was being taken to a patrol car.

They claimed that Rommel accompanied Rochard to the police station where he was also beaten up by Calipjo, who charged the two victims with direct assault.

Calipjo said the victims resisted arrest, which prompted the arresting policemen to resort to drastic means to subdue them so that they could be brought to the police station.

Tuzon gave the assurance that there will be an impartial investigation into the incident, saying that corresponding sanctions would be meted against Calipjo if it could be proven that he had, indeed, maltreated the Malones brothers.
