San Juan readies 20 evacuation centers, food packs as Typhoon ‘Rolly’ looms


The San Juan City government is now preparing the 20 evacuation centers it has identified for the city residents who will be affected by typhoon “Rolly” (international name: “Goni”).

Mayor Francis Zamora said that the evacuation centers are located in different barangays: Addition Hills Multipurpose Hall (MH) ; Ermitano MH; Isabelita MH; Kabayanan MH; Onse MH; Pedro Cruz MH;  Balong-Bato Barangay Hall; San Juan Gym in Batis; Basketball Court in Corazon de Jesus; Greenhills Shopping Center Open Parking in Greenhills; Barangay Health Center in Little Baguio; Barangay Hall in Maytunas; Barangay Hall in Pasadena; San Juan Gym in Progreso; Basketball court in Rivera; Barangay Hall San Perfecto evacuation area in San Perfecto; San Juan Gym in St. Joseph; Health Center and covered court in Sta. Lucia; Basketball court in Tibagan; and West Crame Elementary School in West Crame.   

Zamora said that they conducted disinfection of the identified evacuation centers on October 30 and 31.

He also said that the city government has prepared food packs ready for distribution to families who will be affected by the typhoon.

The high-risk areas identified by the local government are Balong-Bato, Batis, Ermitano, Pasadena, Progreso, Rivera, Salapan, and Addition Hills.

Zamora told the city residents to ready their “go bags” in case they need to evacuate due to floods.

The mayor added that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has already checked the pumping station located in the locality.  

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD) are on standby.
