DSWD prepositions 46,000 family food packs as ‘Rolly’ nears

The Department of Social Welfare and Development said Saturday that it has prepositioned more than 46,000 family food packs (FFPs) and dispatched quick response teams (QRTs) to areas that will be affected by typhoon “Rolly” (international name “Goni”).

DSWD spokersperson Irene Dumlao said they have prepositioned relief supplies composed of food and non-food items in Regions 2 (Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), 4-B (Mimaropa), and 5 (Bicol) that will bear the brunt of Rolly.

“Sa kasalukuyan, nakapreposition na tayo sa mga iba’t-ibang lugar na madadaanan ng typhoon Rolly. In fact sa pakikipg-ugnayan sa LGUs (local government units) na may malalaking facilities, tayo ay nakakapag-imbak in preparation for the eventualities that might be brought by the typhoon,” she told State-run Radyo Pilipinas in an interview.

Dumlao said the DSWD-Central Office has alerted its field offices and its QRTs and readied its emergency equipment.

“Ang DSWD ay nakahandang magbigay ng tulong sa lokal na pamahaalan para madagdagan ang kanilang imbentaryo ng mga family food packs and non-food items,” she said.
