177 new COVID-19 cases reported in Davao City


DAVAO CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) reported 177 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region on Friday, October 30. 

DOH-DCHD said 135 of these new cases were from Davao City, 29 from Davao del Norte, six from Davao Oriental, five from Davao de Oro, and two from Davao del Sur. 

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin, the region now has 1,202 active cases, and a total of 5,251 recoded cases ever since the COVID-19 breakout earlier this year. 

The DOH said 10 of the active cases were critical, 65 were severe cases and 457 were mild cases. The DOH added that 55.7 percent, or 670 of the active cases, was asymptomatic.

Davao region surpassed the 5,000-mark on Thursday after the DOH 99 new cases on October 29.

Four deaths were also recorded in Davao City, bringing to 191 the total number of fatalities due to the pandemic. 

Meanwhile, there were 103 recoveries reported on Friday. The DOH said these include 73 recoveries from Davao City, 17 from Davao del Norte, nine from Davao del Sur,  three from Davao Oriental, and one from Davao Occidental.

Davao region has recorded a total of 3,858 recoveries.
